Senri Tsukumodai Residence

Design of a Landscape that Represents the History of Senri Hills
The Award-winner of The 14th Osaka Greening Award, Governor of Osaka Award and Biodiversity Award

A space where one can feel closer to the charm of the natural environment of the Senri Hills. Taking the ups and downs of the hills as a clue, we design the entrance approach as a slope of about 1/15 slope with a height difference of 1.5m. By gently raising the horizontal surface, we succeed in enhancing the sense of immersion in the garden space. In addition, the design incorporates “overlap” as a motif from the origin of the “99” mountains and valleys of the Tsukumodai area. In this space, as one walks along the street, one encounters a hidden garden, and as one sits in the lounge, one is surrounded by a shaded space that is rich in green. In addition, we retained the existing metasequoia grove and connected it to the greenway on the south side of the site, with an emphasis on the connection between the mature trees and the living environment. Our goal was to create a landscape that would become an asset for both the residents and the city.
