Toyonaka Residence

A Tunnel of Trees: A Place Where People Feel Close to Nature

We designed the circular approach that leads residents to the entrance as if they were taking a walk in the thicket. Our design allows them to enjoy nature in a way that they cannot with artificial plantings. The amount of greenery was carefully selected to create a sense of cohesion and looseness through the layering of trees rather than single trees. In addition, we were conscious of the seasonality represented by autumn leaves on deciduous trees. We made two paths, one 1.5m wide and the other a little narrower so that visitors can experience nature more closely.
